IS IT LEGAL TO DO MY OWN CONVEYANCING IN QLD?

This is a common misconception held by some members of the public and Real Estate Agents.  It is certainly legal to do your own conveyancing.  The law in QLD allows a Solicitor to do your conveyancing or you can do it yourself.

HOW EASY/HOW MUCH TIME DOES IT TAKE TO DO IT YOURSELF?

Many people in the past have wanted to do their own conveyancing, but all that has been available to them is a paper kit, and those kits are around and $90 in QLD.  The problem with the paper kit is that it is thick and very hard to work out what you need or don’t need for your particular situation.

QuickLAW is a conveyancing program that  uses award winning artificial intelligence (software) to work out, from the simple questions the program asks the customer, exactly what they need to read and what is not relevant to them.

ISN’T IT RISKY TO DO YOUR OWN CONVEYANCE IN QLD
WHAT IF I DO SOMETHING WRONG?

Conveyancing is largely administrative in nature, not legal.  It is largely comprised of writing letters to make sure the other side are doing their job, diarising dates by which you have to do things (for instance arrange your finance) and making phone calls.  A lot of these jobs are still done by you even if you get a Solicitor acting for you.

We know that conveyancing is not rocket science, because Solicitors rarely deal with the conveyance themselves.  They mostly delegate conveyancing to their law clerk or their secretary.

The QuickLAW conveyancing program is in its 6th version now, and provides all the checks and balances to make sure that you do the right thing when you’re supposed to, and highlights any area where something could appear out of the ordinary in any conveyance.  If you follow the program, you will get it right.

Further, there is lawyer support if you get stuck with your conveyancing, or to check your Transfer form or other documents, if you want to have a second opinion.  Ultimately you can also upgrade to the Full Solicitor Conveyancing service and get your money for the QuickLAW program credited off their fixed fee.
